fairy chronicles go green
Everyone at The Fairy Chronicles want to tell you one very important thing:

It's time to go green!

Mother Nature has been asking for our help for awhile, and it's about time we did something about it! We Fairy Chronicles fairies want everyone to know why going green is important, and what you can do to help! Because we are so tiny, we can see things closer to nature than normal humans can. And let us tell you - our Earth is dirty! But in order to clean her up, we need you to help us. Below you can find ways to make your home green, go green in your neighborhood, and even get your school to go green!

Enjoy, and we'll tell Mother Nature about all the hard work you're doing to go green!!

Why should schools go green?

Why, because school is where we learn! If we can learn about math and history and science, we can learn about Mother Nature too!

Should my school go green?

Yes! And you can help your school go green too. And you can do that by starting a:

Go green tips:

What are 10 ways to go green?

Go Green Step 1. Recyle, Recyle, Recycle!

Here are some fun ideas on how to recycle!

Go Green Step 2. Be active!

—Spending less time in the car means the earth has more time to breathe fresh air! So walk, ride your bike, rollerblade - be active!

Go Green Step 3. Leave only footprints

A lot of times when we have picnics or get a cool new toy from the toystore, we forget to clean up after ourselves. Always make sure after unwrapping a sandwich, a new doll or anything else, you pick up all of your garbage that might have fallen down. The Earth will be a better place because of it!

Go Green Step 4. Help others recycle

Going green can be a group activity, so be sure to get everyone you know involved! Here we have included steps on how to help your town or school run an aluminum can drive. You and your friends can help save the Earth together!

Go Green Step 5. Go green in your home

Summertime is the perfect time to enjoy warm breezes and fresh air. Instead of turning on your air conditioning (which takes up energy the Earth could use!), prop open a window and take in the summertime scent.

Go Green Step 6. Going without air conditioning? Stay cool in a go green way!

First off, congratulations on making such a big move to help Mother Nature. Now, to stay cool in a creative way, mix a batch of your favorite Koolaid flavored punch, and pour it into an ice-cube tray. Put them in the freezer and a couple hours later, you have flavored ice cubes to keep cool with!

Go Green Step 7. Speaking of staying cool... turn off the light!

Our house lights need a lot of energy to stay bright - and one house can use a lot of energy if every light is on! If you turn off a light every time you leave a room, not only are you saving energy, but you're cooling your house down.

Go Green Step 8. Skip the plastic while grocery shopping

If we use plastic bags everytime we buy food, that's a lot of garbage we're throwing away! One way to change that is to use cloth bags instead. Help your parents pick out a big cloth bag that can be used again and again!

Go Green Step 9. Get creative with leftover paper!

Do you have paper grocery bags, or maybe some leftover paper from a school project? Well, instead of throwing them away, make them into a room decoration or costume! You can create fairy wings to wear or puppets to play with!

Go Green Step 10. Spread the word

Now that you've learned exciting ways to go green, tell all your friends and family. You can write your own newspaper telling them how to save energy, write a poem about Mother Nature, do earth experiments, or even start a recycling program in your neighborhood. You've got the knowledge to teach others, go out there and do it!

Want a 'Go Green' fashion statement? Use a Go Green mug and discover the benefits of go green!

A Go Green mug can be anything used multiple times in place of buying lots of plastic beverage bottles. It can be your favorite coffee mug, an old athletic water bottle, even a kid's sippy cup! Count all of the times you refill your Go Green mug, and just think - that's how many plastic bottles you're NOT throwing away! Mother Nature would be so proud!

What are the benefits of 'go green'?

If you go green, then your friends and family can be healthy and happy now and forever! In fact, if you could make a wish for all the world to go green, how do you think they should do it? Follow this fairy wish activity to find out what your wish is!

Pretend you are a fairy from The Fairy Chronicles. Write a letter to someone who lives in our world today describing what you wish he or she was doing differently so that the environment would be in better shape. You can use examples from the books of actions that hurt the environment, or simply imagine what the fairies would be worried about.

**Make sure to explain what needs to be done different to go green, and help the earth and the environment stay healthy.
