PAPER BAG FAIRY PUPPETS:
Turn a paper lunch bag or grocery bag into a paper bag fairy puppet. The fairy can be one of the existing fairies from The Fairy Chronicles or the Brownies can make up their own. Then the Brownies should write a short skit about a litter or recycling adventure in which their fairy puppets are the main characters.

What you need:
- A used paper lunch or grocery bag
- Some newspapers
- A long cardboard tube
- A pair of scissors
- Glue
- Masking tape
- Crayons or felt-tipped marking pens
- Odds and ends, such as feathers, paper and fabric scraps, paper plates and cups (rinsed and dried for reusing), sticks, and yarn

What you do:
- Stuff the bag with newspapers
- Poke the cardboard tube into the bag to form the neck.
- Squeeze the bag around the tube and use masking tape to fasten the bag securely around the tube.
- With crayons or marking pens, draw a face on the bag.
Use some of your odds and ends to add a beak, a nose, ears, horns, and/or antlers.
PAPER BAG FAIRY WINGS:
Turn a used paper bag into a brand new set of fairy wings.

What you need:
- A large brown paper grocery bag
- A pencil
- Scissors
- Glue
- Ribbon or string
- Crayons or felt-tipped marking pens
- Leftover bits of braid, construction paper, fabric, felt, rick-rack, or wrapping paper

What you do:
- With scissors, carefully cut along one of the corners of the bag and then around the bottom so you have a large piece of paper.
- Fold the bag in half and draw the shape you want your wings to take, starting at the fold. (Make sure the shape is fairly large, the middle should be attached)
- Cut out the shape.
- Cut two small holes at the top and bottom of where the two wings meet (this is where you will put the string to go around your arms).
- Cut two pieces of string long enough to reach from your back around your shoulders.
- Thread the string through the two holes and tie in a loop.
- Now it’s time for a fitting. Try on your fairy wings. Cut the longer pieces of string or tie them shorter, or make any other adjustments that are needed for a perfect fit.
- If there is printing on your grocery bag, glue a piece of colored paper over it.
- Decorate your fairy wings by drawing on them with crayons or felt-tipped pens and/or by gluing on bits or braid, felt, or rick-rack.
- Write The Fairy Motto or another slogan on your fairy wings which will remind people to reuse and/or recycle. You can also draw or write things on your fairy wings that explain what the fairies do to preserve the environment.
